Jim & Kate Discuss Sight & Sound's Greatest Films Of All Time List

You may have heard of this list going around as of 12/01/22 courtesy of Sight & Sound called "The Greatest Films Of All Time." Every ten years, a selected group of film critics and filmmakers select ten films resulting in a definitive list. As they summarize, "The Sight and Sound poll is now a major bellwether of critical opinion on cinema and this year’s edition (its eighth) is the largest ever, with 1,639 participating critics, programmers, curators, archivists and academics each submitting their top ten ballot." I certainly had thoughts especially regarding the number one choice but most importantly, I wanted to know what past guest and film scholar Kate Blair thought about this list (and ranking art in general). Surprisingly we came pretty close to having around an hour of things to say! Enjoy this bonus conversation about our reaction to the latest iteration of the Sight & Sound list as well as the surprise new number one choice!
